Commissioner Bruce now a State Representative

El Paso County Commissioner Doug Bruce plans to resign from the board next month.  He's now a state representative.  Bruce was appointed to fill a vacant seat in the House for District 15 that opened when Rep. Bill Cadman was appointed to the Senate.  Bruce will head to Denver in mid-January.

"If Democrats want to pick a fight, I'm ready, but I'm not going up there with mace and a battle ax," he said.  "I'm just going up there to represent my view of limited government."

Bruce will fill the remainder of the term, which is a year, and says he plans to run for another term.  A Republican committee will select someone to fill the empty seat on the board of county commissioners.  Three candidates are currently running.
