 Woman kills man inside Colorado Springs home One man is dead following a shooting in the Rustic Hills area of Colorado Springs this morning. It happened at a home on Lewis Lane. An investigation is underway, but the scene is quite a shock for this quiet neighborhood.
Lisa Gifford lives across the street. She says, "I just got out of the car. I just heard her screaming, I think I killed him, I think I killed him." She's talking about her neighbor, Lisa Hinkle, 52. Police say she called 911 Monday morning, and told a dispatcher she shot a man. Lt. Skip Arms said, "We do know that there was an active restraining order protecting her from him."
It's not clear what type of relationship they had, or what led to that restraining order. The ending, though, is clear. The man,
Kyle Haner, 27, died shortly after arriving at Memorial Hospital. Lt. Arms said, "I don't think the issue is whether or not she did that. The issue is going to be whether, or not, it was justified."
The story that is still unraveling, but Gifford has to explain to her children why crime scene tape now litters the neighbor's yard. She said, "My kids play basketball, ride their bikes and scooters, and nothing like this would have ever crossed my mind."
The shooting is under investigation. No decision has been made about whether the Hinkle will face charges.
